Powered by potatoes

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Fylde Fresh and Fabulous were looking for support with an extension to their existing anaerobic digestion plant in Preston, in the north of England; a plant ‘powered by potatoes’ and using predominantly potato peelings to create biogas.

Balanced with grass silage and animal manure, the plant produces sufficient gas to generate up to 500kw per hour of heat and electricity. All generated heat is used in the company’s offices, the farm site and in the Fylde Fresh and Fabulous factory, with surplus passed on to the National Grid to power 600 houses in the local community.

WHAT WE DID

Paul Winter Consulting Ltd. has been commissioned to oversee the pre-construction phase of the project; ensuring that strong foundations are laid for a successful project.

Our team began with forming a financial model, reviewing and updating the risk register and reviewing the FEED contract.
