We’re delighted to see Riverside 1 Energy from Waste Plant hit the headlines recently as owners Cory announce plans to use waste heat from the plant to heat homes across Southeast and Central London.

This new heating project, which has been deemed as nationally significant by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), is expected to support around 300,000 homes throughout London and unlock around £5 billion in heat network investment under local area energy planning; an incredible achievement for Energy from Waste and, indeed, the renewable energy sector as a whole.

Having worked on this project during the construction phase in 2006, it’s great to see this cornerstone facility continuing to evolve and deliver value nearly two decades later.

Riverside remains a leading example of how well-managed Energy from Waste infrastructure can adapt to new technologies and play a vital role in the UK’s transition to low-carbon energy.
